Adventures in the North

Corralejo

Famous for its vast sand dunes and protected natural park, Corralejo is a lively tourist hub offering a wide choice of bars, shops, and the island’s only water park. From here, you can:

  • Catch a ferry to Lanzarote (30-minute crossing)

  • Take a water taxi to Lobos Island, an uninhabited nature reserve perfect for swimming, snorkelling, and hiking

El Cotillo

A picturesque fishing village with beautiful beaches and turquoise lagoons on both sides. The sheltered harbour is lined with restaurants and bars – perfect for a fresh seafood lunch while enjoying ocean views.

La Oliva

This inland town is home to the historic Casa de los Coroneles (The Colonel’s House) and serves as the municipal centre of northern Fuerteventura.

The West & Central Highlands

Betancuria

Once the capital of Fuerteventura, this postcard-perfect mountain village is reached by a dramatic, winding drive. With its whitewashed houses, historic church, and traditional cafés, it’s a favourite stop on sightseeing tours.

Pájara

Dominated by the Nuestra Señora de Regla Church (built in 1687), this small, charming town offers a few excellent eateries and a taste of local life.

Ajuy

A tiny fishing village on the rugged west coast, known for its black sand beach and impressive sea caves – a must-see for nature lovers.

Exploring the South

Gran Tarajal

One of the island’s first ports, now a lively town with a marina and a seafront promenade lined with cafés, bars, and restaurants.

La Lajita & Oasis Wildlife Park

Home to the famous Oasis Park – a full-day experience with a zoo, botanical gardens, and live shows. The park offers free shuttle buses from many towns, so it’s easy to visit even without a hire car.

Morro Jable

The road ends here – in a bustling port town framed by hills and long stretches of golden sand. The old fishing quarter blends beautifully with the newer tourist resort.
